How do I use MemoryBrain with Claude?
Add MemoryBrain to Claude as a custom connector using https://app.memorybrain.ai/mcp and sign in. Then enable it in the conversation to save and retrieve notes with their sources; a connector added on the web also appears on iPhone. Setup has four steps, requires access to the private beta and uses the single custom connector allowed on Claude Free.
What you need
- Claude on the web to add the connector. Free allows one custom connector, according to Anthropic. Check this limit first if another one is already configured.
- Team or Enterprise permissions. MemoryBrain’s recorded path restricts adding connectors to owners. The current help article also allows certain Enterprise custom roles.
- An approved MemoryBrain email. It is in private beta, with access through the waitlist. Sign-in requires the six-digit code sent to that address.
- Install: There is no local software to install.
https://app.memorybrain.ai/mcpHow to connect it
-
Open custom connectors on the web
In Claude web, setup starts at Customize › Connectors. The next selections are + Add, then Add custom connector. This is the recorded MemoryBrain path and the one in Anthropic’s help article. Labels match the English interface used in the test.
On Team or Enterprise, the owner adds the connector to the organization before a member connects their account, as described in the organization workflow. Making a connector available to the team is separate from signing in to a personal brain.
-
Enter the name and URL
The name is MemoryBrain and the URL is
https://app.memorybrain.ai/mcp. These are the details used in the tested connection. Anthropic documents the name and URL fields for custom connectors.MemoryBrain uses OAuth and registers the client automatically; no client ID or secret is required. The connector is remote. The computer does not need to stay on for MemoryBrain to work.
-
Complete sign-in
Authentication uses sign-in. The current documentation may show Continue, authentication options and Add; the recorded path summarizes this as adding and authenticating. If Sign in now appears, it is the sign-in option documented by Anthropic. Menus can change.
The MemoryBrain sign-in screen requires the approved email and the six-digit code sent to it. The email identifies the brain Claude connects to.
-
Enable MemoryBrain in chat and check iPhone
In a conversation, MemoryBrain is enabled under + › Connectors. Anthropic describes this per-conversation control.
The MemoryBrain test confirms that the connector added on the web appears in the iPhone app. The connector help article documents iOS support and keeps web and desktop as the primary custom connector setup path. This guide follows the tested web setup.
Check that it works
With the connector enabled, the first message is:
“Use MemoryBrain. Save this to my brain: the pilot is waiting for a text review.”
In another chat with MemoryBrain enabled, the check is:
“Look in MemoryBrain: where was I with the pilot? Include the note’s source.”
The expected result is that project state and the note’s provenance. The note can also be reviewed in /account.
Prompts to use in Claude
These examples use supported beta functions and name MemoryBrain to direct the request to the enabled connector.
- “Use MemoryBrain. Save this to my brain.” Record a decision from the chat.
- “Look in MemoryBrain: where was I with the pilot?” Retrieve a project’s recorded state.
- “Use MemoryBrain to review this text against my guide.” Apply your writing voice and check figures, dates and links.
- “Use MemoryBrain to make me a learning map for X.” Work from what is already saved.
MemoryBrain vs Claude memory
MemoryBrain works alongside the native features. The Claude columns draw on its memory documentation and Projects documentation, accessed November 7, 2026.
| Use | Claude memory | Claude Projects | MemoryBrain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Context | Builds memory from conversations, depending on availability and settings. | Organizes a piece of work’s chats, documents and instructions. | Notes, reading and chats you choose to import. |
| Useful for | Continuity within Claude. | Materials and instructions for a particular project. | The same memory across connected AIs. |
| Control | Review and edit remembered information. | Project context and instructions. | Every note keeps its source; download everything as one file. |
Native memory avoids adding an external connector. Projects brings a piece of work’s material together inside Claude. MemoryBrain adds a shared brain with provenance and a download. Anthropic is changing Projects in stages; this comparison covers context features and does not establish a MemoryBrain test inside Projects.
Problems and solutions
Free already has another custom connector
The limit is one, according to Anthropic. The existing connector should be reviewed before using that slot for MemoryBrain; the help article explains removal. Removal requires choosing to give up the existing connection.
A Team or Enterprise member cannot add it
Organization setup and individual connection are separate in the official help article. The tested path asks an owner to add it. The Enterprise role exception remains untested for MemoryBrain.
The connector exists but is not used in the chat
The check is whether it is enabled under + › Connectors, as described by Anthropic, with requests explicitly naming MemoryBrain.
The record contains no messages; the cases above follow requirements and documentation rather than recorded failures.
Known limits
- MemoryBrain is in private beta; the email must be approved.
- The test covers Claude web and iPhone. It does not establish support on other devices or clients.
- Free allows one custom connector and organization access depends on permissions, according to Anthropic.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with Claude Free?
Free allows one custom connector, according to Anthropic. MemoryBrain can use that slot if the email has beta access; the exact plan used in the test still needs to be recorded.
Who adds it on Team and Enterprise?
MemoryBrain’s recorded path reserves setup for owners. The current documentation also allows certain Enterprise custom roles; that variant is not tested here.
Can I use it on iPhone?
Yes. The recorded test adds the connector on the web and sees it in the iPhone app. Anthropic documents iOS connectors.
How do I connect it to ChatGPT too?
The same memory guide covers that workflow. The ChatGPT guide explains its plugin and tested plan requirement.
Where can I view and download my notes?
In /account. Notes can be viewed, the whole brain downloaded and each app’s access revoked there.
Try it
MemoryBrain is in private beta. Try the demo without creating an account; product access starts with the waitlist.
