MemoryBrain

MemoryBrain

Did I say it, read it, or did the AI make it up?

An AI memory with sources answers that question. Every memory keeps where it came from: something you read, one of your chats, or something you said. If it comes from something you read, it also keeps the author's original wording. Your own opinion is kept apart. MemoryBrain is a memory like that: it is yours, it works inside ChatGPT and Claude, and it is the same in both.

How it differs from ChatGPT's or Claude's memory

Each assistant's built-in memory is useful and free. MemoryBrain does not replace it; it works alongside it. This is what changes:

Each assistant's memoryMemoryBrain
Where it livesInside that assistantOutside, in your MemoryBrain account
Across assistantsEach one on its ownThe same in ChatGPT and Claude
Which memories it used in an answerChatGPT shows them with the Sources icon (since May 2026). Claude links the chats when it searches themThe AI tells you which note it used and opens it
Where each saved memory came fromNot shown in the memory list, and deleting the chat does not delete the memoryEvery note keeps its source
What you read outside the chatNot kept with its author or quoteIdeas one by one, with the author and the original wording. Your Kindle highlights too
Your opinion vs the author'sMixedKept in separate fields
Taking it with youDepends on the assistantDownload everything in one file
Installing anythingNoNo: you add it with a URL
PriceIncludedPrivate beta, no published price

When you don't need it: if you use a single assistant and only need it to remember a handful of preferences, its built-in memory already does that.

What about Notion, Hjarni and the rest?

Other memories also work across ChatGPT and Claude through MCP. Notion launched one on November 4, 2026, including its free plan, and Hjarni is a hosted Markdown notes app with a connector (MemoryBrain vs Hjarni). If what you want is for your assistants to share what they learn about you, any of them will do.

What MemoryBrain does that those don't is start from what you read: give it an article, a book, your highlights or your chats, and it pulls out the ideas one by one with the original wording and the author, and keeps your own take apart.

Why the original wording matters

A memory without sources mixes what you said, what you read and what the AI inferred. With the source and the original wording:

How it works

  1. Add MemoryBrain as a connector in ChatGPT or Claude with a URL. Nothing to install.
  2. Sign in with your email and a 6-digit code.
  3. Ask things like "Save this to my brain", "Import my Kindle highlights" or "Where was I with the pilot?".
  4. It lives in the cloud: your computer does not need to be on, and it also works on your phone.

What is tested and what is not

The method behind it

MemoryBrain is built on Open Brain, an open method for building a second brain an AI can use: how notes are drawn from a source, how they are linked, and how each one keeps where it came from.
