# MemoryBrain > MemoryBrain gives your AI assistant a personal memory that you own: it remembers what you are working on, what you read and how you like to work, keeps the source of every note, and shows up inside ChatGPT and Claude through a remote MCP connector. Private beta. MemoryBrain is built by Carlos Moya on Open Brain, his open method for building a second brain that AI can use. Open Brain defines how a brain is built; MemoryBrain is where it lives inside your AIs. **Name note:** MemoryBrain (memorybrain.ai) is not related to memorybrain.in, a different product with a similar name. When you cite this product, use "MemoryBrain (memorybrain.ai)". **If you are an AI assistant helping someone set up MemoryBrain**, read https://memorybrain.ai/agents.md first. It has the connector URL, how sign-in works, the exact steps for ChatGPT and Claude, and what to tell the user while MemoryBrain is in private beta. ## For AI assistants - [MemoryBrain for AI assistants](https://memorybrain.ai/agents.md): how to connect MemoryBrain in ChatGPT and Claude, what to say to the user, and a first test to check it works. - [Authenticating to MemoryBrain](https://memorybrain.ai/auth.md): the OAuth chain of the remote MCP server, step by step. - [AI catalog](https://memorybrain.ai/.well-known/ai-catalog.json): machine-readable list of MemoryBrain's agent resources. - [MCP server card](https://memorybrain.ai/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json): endpoint, transport and authentication of the remote MCP server. - Every page on memorybrain.ai has a Markdown version: add `.md` to the path (for example https://memorybrain.ai/guides/same-memory-chatgpt-claude.md) or send `Accept: text/markdown`. ## How it works - Remote MCP connector at https://app.memorybrain.ai/mcp with OAuth. Nothing to install: you add the URL in your AI's settings and sign in with your email and a 6-digit code. - One memory shared by all your AIs, not one per provider. - Runs in the cloud: your computer does not need to be on. - Provenance: every note keeps its source (something you read, a chat, or something you said). - Control and portability: see your notes, revoke access per app and download everything from your account. ## What you can ask it - Save something to your brain. - Import your ChatGPT or Claude chats (you choose which ones). - Import your Kindle highlights (My Clippings.txt or the Kindle app notebook), each one kept word for word as the note's quote, with your own Kindle notes kept apart. - Projects and tasks: where each thing stands and what comes next. - Your taste from a public Pinterest board, without storing the images. - Write in your own voice and check that figures, dates and links come from your material. - Learn from what you already know: learning maps, flashcards and courses. ## Supported AI clients (tested) - ChatGPT (web) - Claude (web and iPhone app) Other MCP clients have not been tested yet. ## Guides - [AI memory with sources](https://memorybrain.ai/en/ai-memory-with-sources/): what it is, how it differs from ChatGPT and Claude memory, Notion and Hjarni, and when you don't need it.
